So why are electricians called “sparky”?

The nickname “sparky” for electricians comes from the visible sparks and occasional discharges during electrical mishaps, like overloading an outlet or dealing with faulty appliances. While some might see it as derogatory since sparks signal issues, it is generally a playful and lighthearted term reflecting the nature of their work.
